In this feature, we get to hear from our Lead Character Artist, Mahesh on a little Q&A session.

Mahesh handles character art at the studio and works usually on a variety of styles and genres from stylized characters, semi-real to realistic characters across PC and Mobile. We caught hold of him and shot a bunch of questions at him and he fired back in one liners!

How did you end up at Hammerplay ?

When I got the Offer at Hammerplay. I realized it’s going to be a better working environment than most out there.

Why did you join Hammerplay ?

I liked the idea to work on various genres and styles of games, it is which intrigued me to join the team.

What do you do at Hammerplay and what is it like to work there ?

I do Characters for games. I like the culture at my studio way above all, It works well with all the like minded people here.

Why did you want to work in the games industry and how did you get started ?

Being a Gamer myself and having skilled at art, it was the best industry I could rather be great at.

What are the best and worst parts of your job ?

Best part is being able to create great looking characters all day and play games when I have time. Worst probably be the tight deadlines, which anyhow I’ll be working through.

How active do you remain in the art community now that you work at Hammerplay ?

Most often I should say. Its what I do right.

What was your first gaming experience ?

When my School friend took me to this gaming Hub for Rs.20 an hour and I played Metalslug and GTA Vice City, but way before that, I played arcades like Prince and Dave too.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not at work ?

Creating personal artworks or playing Great games or watching Anime.

Do you have any advice for Game Artists wanting to break into the Industry ?

Practice..practice a lot. Learn the tools(Software) necessary. Take critiques to improve on Art forums. Have fun at what you do.
