Pushing (almost) the boundaries of Instant Games

H5 games (HTML5) as we fondly call them has steadily grown on us ever since 2016 where we began to building byte sized games for the Jio Phone (feature phone). That platform meant that we had to reimagine and go old school as we were too used to building games in more modern tool sets like Unity or Unreal where we could splurge even for Mobile standards. H5 games made us get out of that comfort zone and truly look at optimising the experience for that much needed instant game experience. It also allowed us to reinforce the philosophy of building snackable experiences without worrying about too much fluff.

Where it all began! Tuk Tuk Go!, our first HTML5 game that we operate to this date (close to 6 years)

Quick Racing- A retro arcade racing game we did in the past

We went on with the retro art with Quick Tennis.

Over the course of years we reached a point where we began noticing the lines blurring between standard Android Mobile games and H5 games. What we could pull off in a regular Unity 3D powered game was now very much possible with Instant games. Of course this depends on where and how these games are consumed but its safe to say that we are at a point where we are expanding this approach and beginning to make the games that are a lot more sophisticated.

Interestingly, 3D H5 games are a key focus for us right now and with the recent advancements in the tool set we are now able to bring some serious fire power. We have been building a variety of genres like endless runner, sports, action and so

While we are unable to show some of these games in their full form yet, we are able to show a glimpse.

We don’t think, a game portfolio is complete without an endless runner, as much as the genre is done to death, this is still one of those highly played and engaging experiences.

Gameplay screenshots from one of the upcoming Endless Runner we have been building. The game combines the typical endless runner mechanics with on the fly fighting where the player character can throw some kicks and punches on the enemies to send them flying!

Next up, Racing has always been something we have been looking to build. While a full blown racing game is still on our cards, we managed to build a endless rider/ racing experience with full 3D graphics. This meant some serious 3D graphics as we dealt with fairly detailed car models and environment assets. At the end they all still need to be in that optimised threshold so as to not fry the low end phones. At the end of the day, its an instant game.

Our upcoming Racer

On the 2D front, we continued to push the bar with more sophisticated animations and FX. As a development partner to One Championship, one of the games we had the honour of developing was Rodtang Fists of Fury where you play as Rodtang and brawl the heck out of the enemies.

The game can be played here

On the other front, we have been working on a cricket game for a brand new IP. With an ensemble of cute animals, this is a perfect cricket game that kids would love to play. Given the kids demography for this IP, we made the visuals accessible with flat shading and popping colour schemes.

An adorable Cricket game that Kids would love!

We continue to push the boundaries with pretty much every game in development at the studio now and can’t wait to show more on what’s cooking!
